Important Update on PaymentPoint (PalmPay) Transaction Charges – Effective February 2026
At MCDATA, we remain committed to transparency and keeping our partners informed about every important update that may affect transactions on our platform. This article provides full details regarding the recent changes in transaction charges introduced by PaymentPoint (PalmPay) and how it will be implemented on our system.
📌 What Has Changed?
PaymentPoint (PalmPay account) has officially increased its transaction charge from ₦50 to ₦100 for payments above ₦9,999.
🔔 Key Dates to Note:
1st February 2026 – PaymentPoint implemented the new charge structure
6th February 2026 – MCDATA will begin reflecting this change on our platform
This means that any PalmPay transaction of ₦10,000 and above will attract a ₦100 transaction fee going forward.
💳 Why This Update Is Happening
The adjustment was made directly by PaymentPoint as part of their operational cost review. While we always aim to keep costs as low as possible for our partners and users, some charges are determined by third-party payment providers beyond our direct control.
Our goal is to communicate these changes early and clearly so you can plan your transactions accordingly.
✅ Alternative Payment Option – Save More
To help minimize transaction fees, we strongly recommend using:
👉 9PSB Payment Channel
Transaction fee capped at ₦35 only
Works seamlessly on our platform
Ideal for both small and large transfers
For partners who process high-volume transactions, switching to 9PSB can significantly reduce overall charges.
📆 Our Implementation Timeline
Although PaymentPoint activated the increase on 1st February 2026, we deliberately delayed reflecting it on our platform until 6th February 2026 to allow our partners time to prepare and adjust.
From 6th February 2026, the new PalmPay charges will apply automatically to qualifying transactions.
🤝 Our Commitment to You
